Hey, Lykkers! Ready to explore snow-capped peaks, charming villages, and stunning landscapes?

The Alps offer some of the most breathtaking scenery in Europe, and we can’t wait to share our experiences with you! Pack your bags and let’s dive into this Alpine adventure together.

Exploring the Iconic Matterhorn

One of the highlights of our trip to the Alps was visiting the Matterhorn. Standing at an impressive 4,478 meters, this iconic peak is a must-see for every adventurer. We took the Gornergrat Railway, which operates year-round from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. The ride offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, and it’s a photographer’s dream! Tickets cost around $45 per person, but the views at the top are absolutely priceless. We even had time to enjoy a light hike around the area, taking in the crisp mountain air and stunning scenery.

A Day at Lake Annecy

Next, we explored Lake Annecy, one of the most picturesque lakes in France. Surrounded by mountains and charming villages, it’s a perfect spot for a relaxing day trip. We rented a paddleboat for $15 an hour and drifted along the turquoise waters, marveling at the view. If you prefer to stay on land, there are walking and cycling paths around the lake that offer equally stunning vistas. The lake is open to visitors year-round, and there’s no entry fee—just pure natural beauty!

Tasting Alpine Delights

After all that exploring, we needed to fuel up, and the local Alpine cuisine did not disappoint! One of our favorite meals was a hearty plate of raclette, a traditional Swiss dish made of melted cheese served with boiled potatoes and pickles. Prices for raclette at local restaurants range from $15 to $25, depending on the location. We also tried rösti, a Swiss potato dish that’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, priced at around $12. The food was comforting and gave us the energy to continue our Alpine journey!

Make sure to pack layers, as mountain weather can be unpredictable, and bring sunscreen, even on chilly days. Prices for accommodation vary, but a night in a cozy mountain chalet can start at $100, with budget hostels available for around $30.
